Cheryl Morris
I consider myself a life-long student of photography, always seeking inspiration, new vision and ways to improve my skills. I continue to develop a personal style of creating images that I hope will be appreciated for their aesthetic and unique content. Although primarily self-taught, I have attended numerous photographic workshops and classes throughout the U.S. I am also a graduate of the Rocky Mountain School of Photography Summer Intensive Program.
Most of my photographic work has been produced using 35mm color transparency or black & white film. Recently I have developed an interest in several forms of alternative photographic processes – those that do not use traditional photographic methods. My current body of work reflects images produced using different types of Polaroid film. Through the use of these films, new images can be produced directly in a camera or can be made from images previously captured on color transparencies. Whatever the method, intriguing new prints immerge that go beyond the realm of the original latent image. My newest interest involves pinhole photography that allows me to produce fascinating images without a traditional camera lens.
My work has been exhibited at: Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center; The Old Hotel, Othello; Moses Lake Museum & Art Center; Sun Lakes Photography Festival, Soap Lake; The Larson Gallery, Yakima; Carnegie Art Center, Walla Walla; Battelle Auditorum, Richland; The Alder Gallery, Coburg, OR ; Linn-Benton Community College, Albany OR.
