R. W. Fitzpatrick
I was four years old when I drew my first hand-turkey for Thanksgiving. Since then, I have had a passion for creating or experiencing art on a daily basis.
Growing up in Midwestern weather, I experienced the unending transitions of the seasons. The change from Indian summer to snow just weeks later or a few unusually warm days in March left me with the indelible impression of how quickly physical and emotional states can change. In my work I try to express these fragile states by portraying the transition between emotions, such as a change of glad to sadness. I feel these transitions betray the broader range of the universal human condition and the complex nature of life. Overall, I strive to make art that is beautiful, odd, unique, fun, playful and most importantly, looks good on a wall.
