June Harwood
June Harwood was born in Middletown, New York and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University and Master of Arts degree from California State University at Los Angeles.
She has exhibited widely on the West Coast since the middle '60s, and her paintings are included in such collections as California State University, LA, Cedars Sinai, LA, Home Savings and Loan, LA, Long Beach Museum of Art, Newport Museum of Art, San Jose Museum of Art, Times Mirror, LA, University of Southern California, LA, University of California, Santa Barbara, and Western States Producing Company, San Antonio.
The transition from Hard-Edge painting to landscapes began in the early '80s with an interest in aerial photography. Experimenting with new materials inspired a variety of textural surfaces, and in each painting the random application determined its individual mood. The formal reference remains.
In addition to her career as an artist, June Harwood taught art for many years and recently retired from Los Angeles Valley College.
