Georgette Osserman
These oil landscapes were painted on imported French portrait linen, because it enhances color. I chose sights in Marin and Sonoma. I also spent a month in France where I painted along the Seine River and in the Luxembourg Gardens.
In my landscapes I strive to capture that moment when the sun is setting and the light is golden. It is at that time that there is the highest contrast between light, and approaching darkness.
I envision these pieces as windows through which the viewer may enter and move around. I have attempted to infuse them with as much atmosphere as possible so that they will have a sense of life all their own.
I have been painting landscapes in and around Marin County since 1993. I think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. In all seasons there is something to notice and record. I paint what I feel rather than exactly what I see. I use these works to experiment with colors and techniques.
