Featured Wine: 2010 Wahluke Slope Malbec
We really must tell you about the Malbec...
... as it has just received recognition which we feel it truly deserves:
PLATINUM: Consumer Wine Awards, Lodi, CA
To put this in perspective: only seventeen wines in the competition were awarded platinum.
We have always felt that this particular Malbec had great potential: winemaker Charlie purchased these grapes in 2010 from Milbrandt Vineyards, from, specifically, the Northridge Vineyard in the Wahluke Slope AVA. The wine was aged in the cave in new French oak barrels for three years, then bottled in July 2013. The shipment to our wine club membes in October 2013 marked it's "official" release.
True to the characteristics of the Malbec grape, the wine delivers fruity aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, mingled with touches of smoke and leather. The color is magnificent (as an art lover as well as a wine lover, it's something else that I love about this wine!). Our Malbec is very food friendly, pairing well with wild game and other red meats, chili, hearty stews, sausages, and barbecue.
We invite you to try it!
